Much Anticipated New MacBooks Arrive
After much anticipation, Apple rolled out it’s new MacBook line today. I have to say I personally found the rollout to be a bit anticlimactic. I was hoping they would take the opportunity to add Santa Rosa capability and a better graphics card to the line, but instead they concentrated on speed, memory and hard drives.
Don’t get me wrong. Speed, memory and hard drive capacity are all great improvements. The main issue I have with the rollout is that it didn’t address the areas in which the MacBook was deficient as compared to other computers with similar capabilities.
So what does the new MacBook line include? Faster processors at 2.0 Ghz and 2.16 Ghz. Standard 1 GB Ram. 802.11n WiFi technology. Increased hard drive capacity (up to 200GB). 4MB shared L2 cache. iLife ’06 and Tiger are included in all models. The sleek, basic white or black color scheme stayed the same, as did the standard features like the built in iSight and Bluetooth access.
